maltaenergy at COP27

MaltaEnergy is at COP27 discussing potential investments in light of the current energy crisis. Egyptian government officials have shown keen interest in the MaltaEnergy solar farm model, which is of mutual benefit for Governments and contractors.

MaltaEnergy, a Maltese renewable energy company set up between the Maltese Government through the Water Services Corporation and the Malta Chamber of SMEs, is celebrating the first anniversary of the completion of its groundbreaking renewable energy projects.

Another project of ours - Two new solar farms in the Ta’ Ċenċ area in Gozo. The solar farms were built on the reservoirs of the WSC and are made up of 2,871 panels.

MaltaEnergy, a leading company in the renewable energy industry, is dedicated to providing sustainable and efficient energy solutions to the people of Malta.

One of our many projects was the creation of a solar farm in Qrendi covering 5,000 square meters that produces one million kilowatt-hours per year, equivalent to that consumed by 250 Maltese households! This project was done in collaboration with Water Services Corporation

At Malta Energy, there is a clear vision to revolutionize the energy sector in Malta. The company is on a mission to bring sustainable and affordable energy to Malta, and in a recent video interview with Malta Energy Chairman, Mr. Paul Abela, we get an insight into the ambitious plans and projects that Malta Energy has in the pipeline.

The Water Services corporation and the Malta Chamber of SME's have recently entered into an agreement that promises to yield additional renewable energy. This agreement has facilitated the establishment of a new company - MaltaEnergy Ltd.

Projects

The company has so far embarked on three main Photovoltaic solar farm projects:

658 kw on San Niklaw reservoir (Qrendi)
610 kw on Ta Cenc reservoirs 1,2 and 3 (Gozo)
677 kw on Ta Cenc no 4 reservoir (Gozo)

The projects have seen a total of five different renewable energy operators investing and actively participating
in these projects for the next 20 years, making their businesses and the jobs of their employees more stable.

1

Initial works in Qrendi.

After alignment, the aluminium structures are fixed to the roof by special epoxy to ensure no damage or seeping as caused.

2

Inverter installation at Qrendi.

Inverters convert electricity generated by the panels from DC to AC, regulate the voltage and synchronise the electricity with that on the grid.

3

Qrendi up and running!

The Qrendi reservoir was the first one to be put online, generating an average of 2.8MW of clean electricity per day.

4

Ta Cenc 4 (Gozo)

Ta Cenc 4 is the largest of our projects. It generates 1,083,200 kW annually.

5

Ta Cenc 4 (Gozo)

The roof of the polishing plant at Ta Cenc 4 is also well utilised to produce clean energy.
